Meet Council Member Jimmy Peluso
Proven Leadership That Works
CANDIDATE FOR AT-LARGE 4
Since 2023, Jimmy has been a driving force for Jacksonville, prioritizing our neighborhoods and progress.
Representing District 7—from Ortega and Riverside to the Eastside and Downtown—Jimmy’s tenure is defined by a singular, 'results-first' philosophy: prioritizing our neighborhoods, supporting small businesses, fixing broken infrastructure, finding solutions to homelessness, and fighting for housing people can afford. A Naval Officer with 17 years of service, both on active duty and currently as a reservist, he believes we all deserve a voice in our government and is ready to bring his experience and leadership to At-Large Group 4.
The Results of Council Member Peluso’s Work:
In less than three years on the Jacksonville City Council, Jimmy has compiled a record of tangible achievements.
Supporting Infrastructure & Neighborhoods:
Secured new speed bumps, sidewalks, and created a new, faster process for completing drainage projects — delivering visible improvements to neighborhoods long neglected by City Hall.
Laid Groundwork for Affordable Housing & Tenant Protections:
Introduced legislation to convert vacant, city-owned properties in the 32206 ZIP code into affordable single-family homes. He went on to introduce a landmark Landlord Registry, working to give transparency to renters in a city that leads Florida in eviction filings.
Secured Funding for Homelessness Efforts:
Championed record funding for homelessness services and played a key role in establishing the Homelessness Initiatives Commission.
Fought for Civil Rights & Economic Justice:
Led the effort to pass a unanimous resolution recognizing the historical impacts of redlining in Jacksonville. He also filed legislation to ensure these historically redlined communities are not considered as sites for a new county jail.
$40 Million for the Eastside Neighborhood:
As Vice Chair of the Special Committee on the Community Benefits Agreement with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Peluso helped negotiate $40 million in funding for the Eastside.
Prioritized People Over Politics:
Stood firm against divisive legislation pushed by partisan and divisive members of the Council, including bipartisan opposition to a sweeping anti-immigrant enforcement bill.
